Hey, this is Ivar, owner of GetLostApparel and I want to welcome you to our brand.
About 24 years ago, my parents put ski’s underneath my feet before I could even walk. From then on, I’ve been skiing every single year until now. This little hobby became my obsession.
Because I live in the Netherlands and there are literally NO mountains, it was impossible to go skiing in our own country. We ‘only’ went skiing one week a year - wherefore I’m super thankful, don’t get me wrong – so I had to wait 51 more weeks every single year to practice my passion.
I’ve always been active, playing outside with my friends and practicing a lot of sports. That's why I decided that I wanted to do more related to skiing and being outdoors.
I made plans to become a ski instructor in the winter and be a mountain guide in the summer, to move to the Alps and work in a local ski shop, to run my own restaurant in a cosy mountain village and I made plans for a whole lot more...
I didn't really know what exactly I wanted to do, the only thing I knew was that my goal was to share my passion with others!
GetLostApparel is where all these plans and idea's come together and where our passion can be shared with likeminded people in our community.
But before this all started, life was completely different at that time..
When I was at school I waited for the bell to ring and when I got home I wasted most if my time gaming or watching Netflix.
I felt like I didn't know what I wanted to do after all this. I felt a little bit lost...
Eventually, I felt a little bit scared that after everything, my life would stay like this...
I had been blindly following the status quo for 24 years, moving towards one goal, only to find out this wasn't what I wanted...
I looked to my left ... and I looked to my right ... and I saw so many people around me doing stuff other people wanted them to do...
I didn't want to take that same route. I wanted to make my own decisions, that includes Monday to Friday between 9am and 5pm…
On top of that, I saw so many people – especially on Social Media – that managed to achieve a life where they do live life on their own terms, with a constant smile on their faces.
I asked myself: ‘what makes these people that have achieved this life so special?’
‘Do they have an angel looking after them?’ No…
‘Are they blessed with some sort of entrepreneurial skills?’ No…
I was confused... What on earth is it that makes them so special?!
Well, it wasn't something special... It's just that they take action and share their passion with likeminded people!
Nevertheless, I was still confused...
Everyone around me kept telling me to finish college so I could get a good job.
Sure, there would be a lot of celebrating. But what about the next morning?
That would be the moment that we all had to meet the "Real World".
And as I figured out already that was not what I wanted...
I started to figure out my next steps and stumbled upon some cool idea's to share my passion with others and create a community full of likeminded people.
I already told you that I saw a lot of people doing what they loved on Social Media.
Also, I told you that I had some idea's about sharing my passion with others.
This all came together when I discovered a perfect platform which allowed people to share everything they possibly wanted about their passion.
They could share memories, stories, feelings, photo's, video's and so much more.
And this platform was...
Instagram! You got it right.
Sometimes the solution to a problem can be around already for years...
With the use of Instagram around the community I wanted to build, people will be able to network with each other, help each other grow and maybe even get to meet each other in the long run. How awesome would that be?!
All of a sudden, the idea's I had started to look like something that could actually work.
I didn't feel lost anymore in a way that I didn't know what to do, I felt lost in a way that I didn't know what tomorrow is going to bring me and I loved it!
That's the moment that TeamGetLost was created and when 'I' transformed into 'we'.
From this moment on we woke up every single day with one goal in mind: create this community and make it one where people would feel motivated to continue living their life to their fullest potential, while going above and beyond and letting nothing stop them along the way.
We, TeamGetLost, want people to feel determined to take initiative to do whatever it is that inspires them in in their lives.
We want people to conquer every obstacle that may arise within their journey and take action towards achieving their wildest dreams.
We want YOU to know that with the right mindset and with the right people around you, anything is possible!
It doesn't matter if you ski, snowboard or if your passion is being outdoors. As long as you want to take action towards your wildest dreams you are more than welcome to join our community.
Let's change the feeling of 'I am lost and don't know what to do', into 'I love being lost because I don't know what tomorrow is going to bring me'.
But at first, we were concerned that that no one would want to join our team because we didn't have a lot of benefits in place...

Super interesting story! I grew up in the flatlands of Illinois where corn and soy beans are more common than people. No mountains for me and I also had a super similar start to riding that involved maybe 1 or 2 trips a year up to Wisconsin (which even then is a sad excuse for skiing). However, I stayed passionate and traveled to Colorado when I was in college and loved it so much, I moved out right after and haven’t left since. I had a feeling of being lost but loving it from day one out here. Since then, I have snowboarded most resorts in Colorado, almost all but Whistler and Park City on the Epic pass, entered 5 snowboard competitions, and made countless friends and adventures along the way. Thanks for bringing me onto the team!
I became a part of the getlostapparel team because i like the idea behind it. they motivate me even more to do what i like and to live my passion.

I’m so happy to be a part of team get lost, not only are these people like minded but they follow their dreams. I’m a skier from a country without mountains or slopes and I always dreamt about going to Canada and skiing there. I always seemed to think that dream was to far fetched, but being a part of this all. Of this big family has convinced me that I should go that I should follow my dream and you should to! Becouse in the end we all have a dream to afraid to do it on your own and get lost gave me that puch in the back that I needed. Thank you, all of you.
My case was kind of the same. I putted on 🎿 almost as soon as I was able to stand and that were the first years of my life. Then for a quantity of reasons it took my almost a decade to wear this skis again and by the time I did well it wasn’t the same. So I started experimenting with snowboard. I always felt more at home with a board. And the experiment is going on still.. about being outdoors also now I live in an island and I have almost a month I’m not sleeping anywhere inside. Like the other day we just took a blanket and went by the lake. And I feel that this is the true life. You can still watch Netflix in your hammock or waiting for the next train or for the blizzard to stop but being captured inside four walls makes me feel awful. Getting lost means that sometimes you can take a tent and start moving towards an unknown place with no specific goal and feel that your home is not only these four walls but can be a place that you’ve never seen before. This applies metaphorically to other parts of life too. Like yeah, your profession and the people you meet. And ,well, this is what this mindset means to me.
TeamGetLost to me means a group of like minded individuals who share a common “passion” for life and who have discovered the path to enlightenment is found by “Getting Lost”.
“Get Lost and let the Adventure begin!”
GetLost means so much to me. When I stumbled upon this brand it made sense to me.
Growing up I struggled with (still do) severe ADHD. I struggled in school, I struggled to make friends, I struggled to socialize appropriately, I even struggled at sports (remembering plays).
When I started snowboarding, four years ago, I finally felt at home. I “GetLost” on the mountain as much as I can. I set goals for myself each year to learn new skills and ride competitively. I study and watch competitions and try to mimic what i see.
Last year, I set a goal to compete at the regional level in Boardercross. It’s very technical and I was certainly at a disadvantage with no formal training and no custom racing board. At the end of the year- I found myself racing at Nationals.
This year, I plan to compete and qualify for more events Nationally.
“GetLost” is more like my mantra. When I am riding, I am lost in my head, I am at peace, I feel at home. It’s really the only thing that makes sense to me- and I’m good at it!
The GetLost brand, to me, represents a brand that pushes the individual to rise above, set personal goals, crush those goals and encourage others to do the same.

I felt like I write this text because it’s exactly me.. I don’t know what the futur will bring to me but I do know that it will be something about mountain, because mountain is my reason to live, all its activites, its landscape, it is my paradise and for nothing on this world I would accept something else than the mountain..
That’s why getlost inspire me, for the message it deliver to people who share the same passion, and for what it means to me.
i like get lost and that you are super inspiring for young people. you get young people to get out in the open air and that they can buy cool sweaters and stuff.
Your story truly got me to join Team GetLost. I just joined recently and I am really looking forward to be part of that Team and to share my stories and adventures with you. However I dreamed about joining a team like this for a very long time, but never found the right one. But now the right one found me. Thanks for that by the way.

My dream is freeride skier. I’m making an effort to make a dream came true.
I’m grateful to everything that supports it Getlost is one of them.
I can relate sooo much to this blog! I am from The Netherlands as well, but I was lucky enough to go several weeks a year to the Alps to practice my passion: skiing. By the time I was 18, I was expected to go to university, so I did. But within a month of being there, I knew this was not my path to walk. So I decided to go to Switzerland to be a ski instructor for a season. I completely fell in love with it and decided I’m going to keep doing this for the next years! I didn’t think too much of it and I didn’t think others would be interested in what i do with my life. But then GetLost messaged me about being an ambassador and sharing my passion with likeminded people. This got me thinking that there maybe IS more that I can do with my passion. Now, I’m in the beginning phase of growing my instagram and reaching as many outdoors lovers as possible, sharing the passion and inspiring others to follow their dreams. I am so so so excited to see what the future brings. And I owe it all to GetLost, who inspired and pushed me to go for my dreams 100%!
I read your story and it very inspirational. I was always scared to try freestyle snowboarding and enter competitions but after I win something my confidence as went up. I also feel that by wearing your clothing brand I get more exposure out there and people can notice me more
I have always dreamed about getting big in my sport(freeskiing) and to get sponsors, so i could get free things and even maybe get paid. I dont get that in getlost but i get the practice to be in a big community, promote things and getting friends in the same sport. So for me getlost will always be remembered because it is the first opportunity that i have gotten closest to my dream.
I became a part of this team because I liked the Idea behind, and the design is really nice. I try to “get lost” as often as I can, and It’s nice to be a part of this team, and get to know people around the world with the same passion for outdoor activity. Get lost ;)

I wanna explain many things…
But I need to make a summary of our experiences.
I have dreams, a lot of dreams That like many people, I set aside because of work, family and other commitments. But Get Lost gaves and giving me the motivation to think big and grow my skills.
I love sports, I love the mountains. I really love the great outdoors GL shared this, and not only this. GL appreciates what we do and it is also mutual.
I don’t know how to show my appreciation for the support, the good work and what they give off. Maybe the best word is “SOUL”.
The truth is that I don’t know where I’ll end up. But I know that we are on the same wavelength.
Whatever I do, I’ll have the support of GL and this makes me enjoy what i do even more…

I’m a small town skier who’s trying to make it big in the ski Industry!! I remember the day my dad took me skiing for the first time, that day I met my true love… SKIING! Thanks for following me Coz your story is like the achievement of my reflexion saying it’s not about searching what’s make you feel important but what you love and as DJ I want to be part of you community in Francia where I born and grow but I want to explore the word skiing and riding air . I love the style but I think that your grafism isn’t inspired by element but the minimalism mode I would like to get more fun in it 😹
I just want to say I read your story and it truly inspired me because I’m kind of in the same boat. I’ve decided to follow my dreams. I put in my 2 weeks today, I’m moving out of the city and moving to northern Michigan. I have always dreamed of living there since my one true passion is just being in the outdoors. I have many hobbies that I can’t do where I live now and because of that I spend hundreds of dollars on gas and spend every weekend up north. Therefore I’ve decided it’s time to start following my dream. I just wanted to say thank you, and maybe one day I’d love to actually be part of your team. Your story inspired me. Getting lost isn’t a scary thing, it’s all about the adventure ahead. I don’t know what I want to do with my life but I’m going to keep exploring until I find something I can truly wake up to every day and say I love where I’m at. I love mountains in any season! I’m a freerider with telemark ski in winter and a climber in summer. And I’m a yoga teacher that work in any outdoor situation making all the incredible teaching of yoga in our sports!
Yoga taught me to let go and enjoy each and every moment, and this is the message I had when I met GetLost. To get lost is letting go everything that is not necessary and that make us feel unhappy to find our way in this adventure called life!
